![]() ![]() My cardiac rehab consists of grocery shopping. You are so lucky to have a good local cardiologist - AND - you are in Ohio so you can make the trip to Cleveland if you needed to! You are soooo fortunate. In my case, after about a month, my heart rate went down somewhat.Īnd for me the higher dose of Verapamil extended release helped too (I should have listened to Dr. When I got home, it was 95 bpm to 98 bpm resting. My heart rate was high after surgery as well. So, any comments on the heart rate and rehab would be appreciated. I am a regular exerciser, but would like some initial support. Anyone have this problem or suggestions to work with insurance? I know I could do this on my own, but I really want to be monitored at first and get guidance on heart tate, etc with the experts. Since, I do not have coronary heart disease, they may not cover it. However, he said insurance may not cover it. I'm glad to have such a great local guy, he's picked right up where Lever left off and has asked to see me in late September after I have follow-up with Lever to continue good local follow-up.Īs for cardiac rehab, he said I could start labor day. However, he said my lingering lack of appetite and occasional bad taste in my mouth is due to the same reason. He said it could take 6 weeks sometimes for it to go away, so I am glad to feel it's gone already. Of course, there are no absolutes, some women have no nausea and some men, do, but it did make perfect sense in my case. He said due to larger stature and weight of men, the anesthesia can find fat pockets or other areas to absorb and so the overall body isn't totally saturated. He said thin woman like myself get completely saturated with anesthesia which causes nausea. He explained the nausea better than anyone in cleveland. I'm sure it's the healing and plan to mention to Dr Lever when he returns from vacation, but just looking for input. Prior to surgery, my heart rate on beta blocker was always 60-70's with same BP as above. He did do an EKG and I am in normal sinus rhythm and have been since surgery. I am on lopressor and my BP is low (90/60) so I can't take anymore and they are actually considering lowering the dose as I am still lightheaded at times. Yesterday at local cardiologist it was 104. But, just wanted to compare notes with others for any comments. I know an increase in heart rate is normal post-op due to the ongoing healing and the heart working a little harder than normal, plus I've been anemic and this makes the body work harder.
